Top things to do before your first bridal appointment

Your wedding dress is, by far, one of the most important acquisitions you will make for the Big Day. Given the huge range of options available on the market though, you may find that making the final call will be a bit more difficult than you originally thought.

The good news? There are things you can do to ease the process. Here are some of the most important steps to keep in mind:

  • First of all, you should know that you shouldn’t even start searching for dresses before you set a very clear budget. Even if you can afford spending a lot on the entire wedding day, it is still very important to know what is your maximum spending limit on the dress alone – so be sure to take this off the list before searching for a wedding gown.

  • Furthermore, you should also research different designers and styles as well. To make things easier and to make sure you are open-minded about the options, don’t focus too much on the silhouette/body shape. Instead, think of the styles you like most and the type of wedding you want to have. Knowing this will help you sift through the multitude of options in an easier, smoother way.

  • Of course, don’t forget it all has to be done within a time frame too. In general, the wedding dress should be ordered with approximately 6-8 months before the big date. Does it seem like too much? Well, think of the fact that making the dress and delivering it to you can take up to 20 weeks – to which you should also add a minimum of 3 fitting appointments too.
