In general, having your fake tan a couple of days before the wedding will give you plenty of time to avoid a “wedding dress vs. fake tan” disaster, while allowing you to show off a gloriously shiny, bronzed skin as well.
Remember that it is very important to prepare your skin for the fake tan. Otherwise, you might get an uneven fake tan that will not look as great as you want it to. Be sure exfoliate your skin (preferably, every day for about one week prior to the fake tan appointment). Also, be sure to moisturize your skin too (and try to achieve the perfect amount of moisture – too much of it will make the tan to “slip off” your skin, for example).
Last, but surely not least, remember that it is also important to decide on whether you want to DIY or go to a salon. The first version might be more comfortable and more financially-wise, but the second one is usually bound to achieve the best results.
